When the tragedy of 9/11 happened … a lot of people said oh this is the death of irony and this is the death of this overblown nonsense about celebrity, and if anything our reaction in western culture over the next ten years was to increase this postmodern irony and increase the importance of celebrity, people are famous now who have no discernible talent other than theyre famous for being famous, which I suppose is a talent and Dylan is outside of all of that, and I find that one fact notable, worthwhile and marvelous.
